Planning and estimates
How can I get a countertop estimate?+
Use our online estimator for a quick planning range, or send our team your project details, photos, plans, and approximate measurements for a more personalized review.
Do I need exact measurements to get started?+
No. Approximate square footage, cabinet plans, photos, or a simple sketch are enough for an initial conversation. Professional laser measurements are completed before fabrication.
What affects the final price?+
Material, slab quantity, finished square footage, edge profile, sinks and appliance cutouts, backsplashes, seam layout, access, tear-out, plumbing, tax, and other project conditions can affect the final amount.
What areas do you serve?+
STONELUX serves Chicago and many surrounding suburbs, including Oak Park, Hinsdale, Naperville, and nearby communities.
Materials and selection
What countertop materials do you offer?+
We fabricate granite, quartz, quartzite, marble, porcelain, and other approved slab surfaces in a wide range of colors and patterns.
What is the difference between granite and quartz?+
Granite is natural stone with unique mineral movement and typically requires periodic sealing. Quartz is an engineered, nonporous surface with more consistent patterns and no sealing requirement.
Can I see the full slab before fabrication?+
Yes. You can review in-stock material with us or visit one of our local slab suppliers. Full-slab viewing is especially important for natural stone and strongly veined designs.
Do you offer custom edge profiles?+
Yes. Available profiles include eased, beveled, bullnose, decorative, and mitered options. Availability depends on the selected material, thickness, and project design.
Measurement and fabrication
Do my cabinets need to be installed before measurement?+
Yes. Cabinets must be fully installed, secured, level, and in their final position before the laser measurement.
How do you ensure accurate measurements?+
We use laser measuring equipment to capture cabinet dimensions, wall conditions, angles, overhangs, cutouts, and other project details before creating the fabrication plan.
How are seams decided?+
Seam placement depends on slab size, countertop length, support, access, handling safety, cutouts, and pattern direction. We plan seams carefully and review vein flow when the material allows.
Can veins match across seams?+
Often they can be coordinated, but exact continuity is not always possible. The result depends on the specific slab, available material, layout, and required piece orientation.
Installation and aftercare
How long does the process take after final measurement?+
Installation is generally scheduled about 7 to 10 business days after final laser measurements and project details are confirmed.
How long does installation take?+
Most countertop installations take approximately two to six hours, depending on the size, access, number of pieces, cutouts, and project complexity.
What is included during installation?+
Our team installs and secures the countertops and attaches the sink to the stone. Plumbing, faucet, disposal, and appliance reconnection are not included unless specifically stated.
How should I care for my countertops?+
Use mild soap, water, and a soft cloth for daily cleaning. Avoid abrasive or highly acidic cleaners. Care requirements vary by material, so follow the guidance provided for your selected surface.
Do you provide a warranty?+
Yes. STONELUX provides a one-year workmanship warranty. Manufacturer material warranties, when available, are governed by the applicable brand and product terms.
